During his visit, he emphasized the importance of coordinated international action to help contain the spread of the virus and strengthen emergency health systems in affected regions.

Meanwhile, the Congolese Minister of Health traveled on Friday to the province of Ituri in the eastern part of the country, where the outbreak was officially declared two weeks ago.

Authorities confirmed that response measures are currently being implemented, including surveillance, case detection, and medical support for infected communities.

Officials stated that the “response against Ebola is being put in place,” highlighting ongoing efforts to control the spread of the disease at the local level.

Health teams are working with international partners to improve treatment capacity, reinforce laboratory testing, and support vaccination campaigns in high-risk areas.

The situation remains critical, with health experts warning that rapid intervention is essential to prevent further spread of the virus.

The visit by the WHO leadership underscores the seriousness of the outbreak and the need for sustained international cooperation.

Efforts continue to focus on containing the epidemic, protecting healthcare workers, and raising awareness in affected communities.

The international community is being urged to maintain strong support as the Democratic Republic of the Congo faces yet another Ebola emergency.
