The Director-General of the World Health Organization has arrived in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Thursday, May 28, to express support for the population affected by the ongoing Ebola outbreak and to encourage global solidarity.

During his visit, he emphasized the importance of coordinated international action to help contain the spread of the virus and strengthen emergency health systems in affected regions.

Meanwhile, the Congolese Minister of Health traveled on Friday to the province of Ituri in the eastern part of the country, where the outbreak was officially declared two weeks ago.

Authorities confirmed that response measures are currently being implemented, including surveillance, case detection, and medical support for infected communities.

Officials stated that the “response against Ebola is being put in place,” highlighting ongoing efforts to control the spread of the disease at the local level.
