The conflict between Israel and Lebanon has entered a new phase as the Israeli military expanded its operations and issued evacuation warnings to civilians living in several areas of southern Beirut.
Israeli forces announced that they had taken control of the historic Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, a strategically important position overlooking key parts of the region. Military analysts believe the capture of the site could provide Israel with a tactical advantage in future operations around Nabatieh.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israeli troops had crossed the Litani River, extending the area under Israeli military control in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military also declared that territory south of the Zahrani River should be considered an active combat zone, prompting concerns about the safety of civilians living in the affected areas.
At the same time, regional tensions increased after the United States carried out strikes against Iranian-linked targets. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have launched attacks against a base used by American forces.
Lebanese health authorities reported that the humanitarian toll of the conflict continues to grow, with thousands of people killed or injured since the start of the military offensive. Large numbers of civilians have also been displaced from their homes.
International organizations have called for the protection of civilians and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading further across the Middle East.
As fighting continues on multiple fronts, concerns are growing that the crisis could escalate into a broader regional confrontation involving additional countries and armed groups.
