Mamelodi Sundowns secured their second African Champions League trophy after drawing 1-1 against AS FAR Rabat on May 24 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The South African side had already gained an important advantage during the first leg in Pretoria, where they won 1-0. The draw in Morocco was enough to give the “Brazilians,” as the club is popularly known, victory on aggregate and the continental title.

This triumph marks the club’s second CAF Champions League success since their first historic title in 2016. The victory was especially meaningful after the disappointment of losing the 2024 final against Pyramids FC.

The final attracted major attention across Africa, with supporters closely following the battle between two strong and experienced clubs from South Africa and Morocco.

Mamelodi Sundowns displayed strong tactical discipline and defensive organization throughout the competition, confirming their position among Africa’s elite football clubs.

AS FAR Rabat fought hard in front of their home supporters and managed to equalize during the second leg, but they were unable to overturn the aggregate score.

The victory represents another major achievement for South African football and reinforces the growing reputation of the CAF Champions League as one of the continent’s most competitive tournaments.

Fans celebrated widely after the final whistle, with many praising the team’s consistency, experience, and determination throughout the tournament.

The success of Mamelodi Sundowns further strengthens their status as one of the dominant clubs in modern African football.
