European Commissioner for Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib stated that no country should face Ebola alone, during a meeting at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa. She confirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting affected countries with additional financial aid.

The European Union has announced a new support package of around 5 million euros to help strengthen the response against the outbreak and improve public health systems in affected regions.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, praised Uganda’s response to Ebola during his visit to Kampala. He highlighted the efforts made to contain the spread of the virus.

Uganda has reported 19 confirmed cases and two deaths linked to the outbreak. Neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo has recorded 515 confirmed cases and 91 deaths, showing that the disease continues to pose a serious regional health challenge.

Health authorities are emphasizing the importance of coordination between countries, rapid response, and vaccination campaigns to control the spread of the virus.

Despite progress in treatment and prevention, Ebola remains a dangerous disease that requires constant vigilance and international cooperation to prevent large-scale outbreaks.
